For as long as Nepal has been open to tourism, The Annapurna circuit has been one of the most popular trekking trails. The gentle inclines and well maintained trails make this one of the best ways to get into the heart of the Himalayas on a Mountain Bike. This journey is a combination of biking and trekking, but as progression develops the trail to bring amenities to the remote villages, the way is becoming more and more bike friendly and will certainly offer you the experience of a life time. The route takes you around the massive Annapurna range and back into the Pokhara Valley, passing between the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna massifs. The ride is technical and highly challenging and is a journey that you will never forget.
From Kathmandu, our bus takes you to Besisahar, the starting point for Annapurna circuit trek. We then start our trip to the foot of the Himalayas riding up to 5416m Thorang La pass, the highest pass of the tour and down to Jomsom with thrilling decent of 2700m. We have massif view of Annapurna, Gangapurna, Nilgiri and many more. It combines mountain biking in Annapurna circuit, through the foothills of the Annapurna Himalayas, with explorations of the Kali Gandaki valley and more.
We cross raging rivers over bamboo suspension bridges, ride through pristine pine forests and pass 15th century Buddhist monasteries and Hindu shrines. The small villages en route will give you a glimpse into Nepali culture with the quaint little lodges a well deserved nights rest. There will be some portage sections however the stunning panoramic views of Dhaulagiri, the Nilgiri peaks and Annapurna I will make up for time off the bike.

Annapurna Circuit MTB
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel Manang.
Day 02: Drive to Kundi. Leaving either Kathmandu or Pokhara early in the morning, we drive with the bikes to Kudi. It’s quite a long drive. On arrival, prepare our bikes for the journey. You stay overnight in Kudi.
Day 03: KUDI TO SANGI
Starting Altitude: 820m Finishing Altitude: 1100m Time: 5 to 7 hrs Rideable: 100%
Leaving Kudi, the trail follows the Marsyandi River through the jungle and along a rugged jeep track. The trail is around 75% uphill with steady riding.
Day 04: SANGI TO TAL
Starting Altitude: 1100m Finishing Altitude: 1700m Time: 6 to 8 hrs Rideable: 100%
An early start sees us leaving Kudi behind and bike uphill along a jeep track that deteriorates the further we progress. Mostly uphill riding but the gradient is steady for the most part.
Day 05: TAL TO CHAME
Starting Altitude: 1700m Finishing Altitude: 2670m Time: 8 to 10 hrs Rideable: 85% - 15% Carry
A challenging climb makes this one of the longest and hardest sections along the trekking trail. The terrain is rugged but fun. There is great jungle and river scenery so take this stage steady.
Day 06: CHAME TO MANANG
Starting Altitude: 2670m Finishing Altitude: 3540m Time: 6 to 8 hrs Rideable: 100% Carry
The trail still climbs but becomes more rideable today as it widens back into a jeep track. The jungle opens up into the arid mountain region and you can get great views of the Himalaya as you ride. It’s a good idea to take it steady to allow your body to acclimatize.
DAY 07/08: MANANG REST, EXPLORATION AND ACCLIMATIZATION
Take a couple of days to acclimatize and prepare for the hard days to come. Short hikes can be taken explore the nearby area, visit high altitude lakes, rest relax and chill out in Manang, maybe you will not want to leave! From here you will be heading into the true mountain wilderness.
Day 09: MANANG TO YAK KHARKA
Starting Altitude: 3540m Finishing Altitude: 4018m Time: 4 hrs Rideable: 90% - 10% Carry
A short and gentle climb today from Manang to Yak Kharka, take time to admire the mountain views. There are a couple of section to carry your bike but for themost part, the trail is rideable.
Day 10: YAK KHARKA TO THRONG PHEDI
Starting Altitude: 4018m Finishing Altitude: 4450m Time: 4 hrs Rideable: 85% - 15% Push
Climb by peddle and push power further up above Manang and into the more arid mountain region just below the pass. Rest well for tomorrow is a hard day.
DAY 11: THRONG PHEDI TO KAGBENI VIA THRONG LA 5416M (PASS)
Starting Altitude: 4450m Finishing Altitude: 2800m Time: 10 - 12 hrs Rideable: 100% carry up and 100% rideable down depending on your ability
Beginning from around 4 am in the morning, you have to make the long haul carrying and pushing your bike up more than 1300 meters to Throng La. The most challenging section of the journey proffers excellent rewards with magnificent views from the pass and superb technical downhill on the other side that will have you grinning from ear to ear or if you’re a bit nervous perhaps browning your trousers! Alas you will arrive to a warm welcome and rest at Kagbeni.
DAY 12: KAGBENI TO TATOPANI
Starting Altitude: 2800m Finishing Altitude: 1190m Time: 5 to 6 hrs Rideable: 100%
After yesterdays challenge, you will welcome fun jeep tracks and trails with a mostly downhill gradient! We have to start early as the wind gets up after 11 am making riding a bit more challenging. Chill out on this section and enjoy the views. Take lunch in the beautiful and ancient town of Marpha famous for growing apples and making apple brandy! Again we are going downhill. Stop at the lush waterfalls at Ruksa Chaahara for rest. Once in Tatapani you can enjoy a soothing bath in the hot springs and perhaps a local massage will not go astray.
DAY 13: TATAPANI TO MALDUNDHA AND BACK TO POKHARA
Starting Altitude: 1190m Finishing Altitude: 920m Time: 3 hrs Rideable: 100%
A ride of around 45 km on open jeep track, flat for the most part but a few up and down hills. From Maldundha we transfer by jeep back to Pokhara for a well earned rest and perhaps a beer!
Day 14: Return to Kathmandu
